March 13 this year a team of World Bank experts on the implementation of the project “Modernization of the National Innovation System of Uzbekistan” (MUNIS) met with the representative of the Assembly of the Economy of Uzbekistan (AEU) Mukhtor Umarov and the financial director of the AEU Nasiba Talipova to discuss cooperation in developing the sphere of innovation and commercialization of scientific research, as well as participation of private enterprises in the project’s grant programs.
In particular, the experts presented information on the progress of the implementation of two key programs of the MUNIS project: “Research Commercialization Program” (RCP) and “Business Investments in Research & Development” (BIRD). These programs are aimed at actively involving the scientific and business community in efforts to stimulate innovative entrepreneurship in the country.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on mutual support for the implementation of all initiatives aimed at commercializing scientific achievements and supporting the introduction of innovations in economic sectors, as well as providing assistance in submitting applications and implementing grants.
